Take a look around the web at the major job search engines and you'll notice
they all have one thing in common: they all gloss over the journalism profession
to a large extent. Some job search sites have "Arts/Entertainment/Media"
categories, but no category specifically for journalism. Others have categories
devoted to broadcast journalism, but not print journalism. Still others combine
journalism with publishing, which are two unique, albeit complementary
industries.
Even if one did post a journalism résumé on a job search web site, when it
comes to journalists, résumés don't tell the whole story. Any journalism
employer would still need to evaluate the applicant's work by viewing some of
their clips, prior to being able to make a proper informed decision about
whether or not to hire the candidate.
My NetClips was created to address this need. Our mission is two-fold:
- Vastly increase the exposure that our subscribers' portfolios get by
providing access to a wide variety of employers.
- Help journalism employers fill their vacancies quicker by providing them
with a ready pool of applicants who match each employer's customized
needs.
Before designing the web site, we surveyed hundreds of media professionals to
see what features they would like to see in such a site. We tabulated the
results and designed the site around those features that proved most popular
with those we surveyed.
We welcome your feedback at feedback@mynetclips.com
and are always eager to hear suggestions on how we can better serve
you.
